Weekend in Beaufort

Robbie and I spent one of our last free weekends for a while (wedding season has arrived!!) in Beaufort, where his parents live. Saturday we took his dad's boat out for a little cruise but it was kinda chilly and started to drizzle so that didn't last too long. We were hoping to get back out on the water on Sunday but when we woke up to crazy winds, we changed our minds and decided to go exploring downtown Beaufort a little before meeting up with his parents for lunch.

Looking towards Bay Street where a lot of the cute shops and restaurants are located.

Swoon! How lovely are these porches for sitting, relaxing, and enjoying the breeze off of the Beaufort River?!

We wanted a little snack/drink before lunchtime so we popped into the Lowcountry Produce Market and Cafe. Located in an old post office building, Lowcountry Produce was such a cute little corner store (reminded me of a much smaller Libbie Market!) with old fashioned soda's, canned soups, salsas, pickles, fresh meats and shrimp along with many other yummy items. I loved the glass bottled Shirley Temple in the case and since Robbie and I love pickled okra, we picked up a jar of that to add to our Bloody Mary's for later!

We walked around the Waterfront Park a little before heading to Q on Bay for some Bloody Mary's before lunch! They have a great waterfront patio that we love and some delicious BBQ to go along with the nice breeze off of the river. It was just what we needed for a relaxing Sunday afternoon!

When we got back from lunch and exploring downtown, I helped Robbie clean off the boat before getting completely sprayed from the hose (he said it was by accident- that darn wind!) so I decided to dry off out on the dock until he was finished and it was time to head back to Charleston. Until next time Beaufort!

  1. I love Beaufort, it is one of my favorite cities! It's so laid back and relaxed. We used to go to Beaufort all the time and walk around the waterfront, and eat at Plum's.

Have you ever visited Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton? It's perfect, you guys would love it!
