Charleston Charm: Isle of Palms

A few weeks ago I ventured out to the Isle of Palms beach for the first time! Coastal Living had featured Isle of Palms in one of their "Dream Town" posts (read here) and after seeing that, I wanted to get out there and check it all out myself! Isle of Palms (or IOP) is a 7 mile skinny strip of beach about 30 minutes from downtown Charleston and I had only made it out there once before for a blogger brunch (when I met Kate & Kelly!) last summer at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen. It was fun to go before it was really "beach season" because it was still pretty quiet, but I'm really looking forwarding to going back this summer!

I loved the bright colors of Coconut Joe's, a restaurant that sat right on the beach. It seems like a great place to have a bite and some refreshing island cocktails after some time out in the sun!

Have you ever been to Isle of Palms?

What is your favorite Charleston beach?

  1. Sullivan's Island is my go to! Poes Tavern has the best food ever. I like Folly if I want to get crazy, IOP is a little too kid friendly for this childless 28 year old lol. But I do like that IOP allows dogs. I don't think you can go wrong with any Charleston beaches!

    1. Sullivan's is always my go-to too (may or may not be just to go to Poe's after!) I guess that's why I had never ventured north to IOP!

  2. I'm going to IOP for the first time next week for one of my kids' field trips! Can't wait! I had some friends come to town a couple of months ago and they ate at Coconut Joe's and said it was fantastic.
