Five on Friday

Happy Friday & Happy Halloween!! It's been so long since I've done a Five on Friday roundup, but I had a few things that were on my radar this week that I couldn't wait to share!

ONE: NEW Lilly Pulitzer Resort Delivery
Devina Lace Tunic Dress
By now, you may have realized that I'm a major Lilly lover and I always get so excited when new styles and prints come out! Resort is always one of my favorites because of the fun tropical prints, though it's not always easy to wear the clothes this time of year... unless you really are going somewhere fun and tropical (I wish!) I'm going to try and together some looks soon on ways to "winterize" your Lilly but until then, I had to share of my favorites from the newest delivery!

TWO: How to Care for Winter Wear
Never know how to wash your cashmere or those down vest or jackets?
I found this article on Pinterest with some great tips that can tell you just that and more!

THREE: Kate Spade + Gap Kids
Quite possibly one of the cutest collaborations I've seen lately! If you are a momma of a little girl, or have a stylish little girl in your life- check these out! Or if you're not, there's always the iPad or iPhone case to pretend you're young again! ;) Plus everything all full priced items from Gap are 30% off through Monday 11/3 with code JOY!

FOUR: Lauren Conrad's Beverly Hills Penthouse
Earlier in the week I saw gorgeous photos of Lauren Conrad's Beverly Hills Penthouse on Holy City Chic and had to check them out on InStyle. How amazing is that closet?!

  FIVE: Happy Halloween!
This little platter from Haymarket Designs would be adorable to display some Halloween candy or special treats! It's on sale now in case you're one to plan wayyyy in advance but if you're just planning ahead for say Thanksgiving or Christmas, check out some of their cute things but remember to order early because the personalized items do take some time. Last year I ordered some monogrammed platters and plates that were great Christmas gifts!

Last Year's Looks {Part 1}

Fall in Charleston is very different from fall around the rest of the country... like today for example- we're looking at a forecast high around 80 degrees. Being a warm weather girl at heart, I am not at all complaining about these temperatures but it does make it tricky to dress for "fall" when it's still so warm. Last week it had gotten cooler so I was just getting around to breaking out the riding boots, scarves and jackets when boom, we get this warm wave again!

Because of this transitional period with the temperature, I've gone back to last year's fall/winter looks for a little inspiration. Of course Pinterest and reading other blogs is great inspiration, but there's nothing better than seeing what you've already got in your closet and re-mixing some of your favorite pieces. Here are some of my favorite fall looks from last year and tomorrow I'll be back with some of the cooler winter ones!

Tory Burch Private Sale

The last thing I needed this afternoon was another sale but when I got an email from Tory Burch announcing a Private Sale, you better believe I got on right away! There are some great items that often don't go on sale, like this Robinson Satchel that I have had my eye on for so long! I've saved some of my favorite picks for you all to shop, but get to it because I have a feeling many of these items won't be in stock for long!

Sweater Weather

Under $75:
Loft Ballet Boatneck Sweater $70 (*today online it's just $35 with code ALLMINE!)
Under $100:
Under $300:
Rachel Zoe Rocco Sweater $295

The temperatures has started to drop a bit and it's finally (lightweight) sweater weather in Charleston! I've been in the market for a new cream cable knit sweater to layer with a plaid or chambray shirt when it gets chillier and some tall riding boots!

I love the look of the classic L.L. Bean Fisherman Sweater but since I have such a long torso I'm worried about it being a little short... so I'm leaning towards a longer style sweater like this one or this one. I also love the style of this sweater, though it's not the cream color I've been eyeing, but still a good neutral that I could wear often.

Love the look of these cable sweaters? I bet you would love this cream cable knit dress!

Which knit sweater is your favorite?

Pumpkin Season

I've been trying to embrace fall and, I'm sure like many of you all, have been on a major pumpkin kick while doing so. I found this pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe on Pinterest and was so excited to make them this past weekend! The fresh baked cookies plus the smell of my favorite Pumpkin Souffle candle gave off the perfect fall aroma, which made me long for some cooler weather and changing leaves!

A Charleston Staycation

Like I briefly mentioned last Friday, I was away from the blog last week because Robbie and I were having a little "stay-cation" in Charleston. He had a week off from work before starting his new job and I timed my monogram work out to have a (mostly) free week too. After considering some different places to visit, we decided to stick around town and explore some of the places we had never been and spend as much time possible just relaxing and enjoying our time together. It was such a fun week and I wished it never had to end!

Sunday - rode out bikes to lunch at Fleet Landing (and it all was great as always!)

Monday - dressed in my favorite fall dress for lunch and strolling down King Street

Tuesday - dinner at Hank's, one of our favorite restaurants

Wedneday - fishing, shrimping, and crabbing on the Stono River, a new "Hot Spot" phone case & infinity scarf to match, Taco Boy at Folly Beach, and an incredibly gorgeous sunset over the Ashley River

Love this guy and our time together! :)
Heather's chambray shirt // scarf // sunglasses
Robbie's shirt // hat // sunglasses

Thursday - headed to Kiawah for lunch at the Ryder Cup Bar overlooking the famous Ocean Course, stopped to see the Angel Oak on our way back, went to the movies see The Judge and eat lots of popcorn and candy

Friday - finally got to try breakfast at Southern Brews Coffee on John's Island, Robbie gathered up his hunting gear to get ready for deer season, and I wore this outfit for the second day in a row

Saturday - shopped on King Street, met up with Carly (so glad to finally meet her!) and a few other of her readers at Black Tap for some of the best cold brew coffee (next time I'll have to try their famous lavender latte!)

Sunday - Robbie came home from hunting and we finished off the wonderful week the same way we started it... biking around downtown and enjoying the beautiful weather! So grateful for the chance to do this and enjoy our incredible city!

Have you ever had a staycation in your own city?

Lilly on Sale at Saks!

Hi friends! If you've been following along with me on Instagram, you'll see that I've been having a little mini Charleston "staycation" with Robbie before he starts his new job next week in Savannah. I've been trying to soak up every bit of time we have together here before he's down in Georgia.

I did want to share this fantastic bit of news for Lilly lovers, Saks is having a Friends & Family sale where they are offering 25% off with code FRNFAM... Lilly Pulitzer items included! I've gathered some of my favorites to snag while you can since a lot of these items are often never on sale (Elsa tops) or may sell out before they go on sale in the spring! I just got this quilted vest and can't wait to start wearing it soon- I love the cute print on the inside for a fun pop of color!

Charleston PopUp Dinner

 photo via Claire Barret Photography
Last week I  had such a blast at the very first Charleston PopUp Dinner hosted by Handmade Events at Hyde Park Polo Club. Jordanna from Brunettes on Broad hosted a giveaway a few months ago for tickets to the event and I won! I invited of my best girlfriends join me for the night since our boyfriends were both out of town and we had so much fun decorating our table, eating our "picnic style" dinner, and then dancing the night away!

If you aren't familiar with the "PopUp Dinner", which I really wasn't before last week, it's a big dinner party in a top secret location (we didn't find out where it was going to be until 3pm that day!) where everyone brings their own food and is provided with table and chairs. Everyone was encouraged to bring their own table decorations, and some went all out on some seriously gorgeous table decor and menus for dinner. The only real rule for the night was to dress in all white! Since I didn't have any white dresses in my closet, I did some searching and found a dress I loved earlier that week, this Lilly Pulitzer Topanga Dress that was perfect for the occasion!

Fall Favorites

Now that we have gotten a little taste of fall (though I think it was just a tease since it looks like it'll be in the 80's this week) I finally gotten into full-on fall mode. I'm a warm-weather girl at heart and love spring and summer, but by the time October rolls around, I am finally ready to put away the shorts and sandals to break out the boots and vests!
Here are a few of my current fall favorites:

This candle instantly makes it feel like fall in any room. I discovered it at Anthropologie last year and have gone through almost the whole tall jar. In case you aren't sure you want to buy the tall size, it also comes in this smaller version. I also love the Sweet Vanilla and Cinnamon scent and this Pumpkin Spice Chai one sounds amazing too!

As the temperatures start to drop, I love coming home and putting on a cozy pair of pj's. I can't wait to throw these Old Navy Halloween pants on and watch some of my favorite fall tv shows and Halloween movies (Hocus Pocus anyone?!)

This Stella and Dot hot pink elephant band bracelet is not only incredibly cute but also goes towards a great cause! 100% of the proceeds in October go to the Noreen Fraser Foundation which raises funds for women's cancer research.

This basic black Beckett dress can be worn so many different ways, for so many different occasions. I love that it easily can be dressed up with maybe some leopard heels and pretty jewelry, or dressed down with riding boots or booties and a colorful scarf. If black isn't your color, it comes in navy, green, and turquoise too!

If you don't own this scarf yourself, most of you have already seen it all over the blogosphere but that's because this plaid scarf is so great to tie together any fall outfit! I wore mine on Sunday when the temperatures dropped a little bit and it is so warm and cozy, I know it'll be making many appearance this fall/winter!

Another candle I know but recently I have loved lighting this one and the pumpkin souffle candle for some extra fall-ness in my apartment! Rewined Candles are made in Charleston from recycled wine bottles so I love to support a unique local company!

I love Sperry's take on the classic Duck Boot that L.L. Bean has made so popular! I have a pair of Rubber Moc Bean Boots that I got in college and though I've wanted to get a taller pair because I like that look better, I feel silly buying something so similar (color and style wise) to what I already have... enter Sperry's Saltwater Duck Boots in pink! I love that these are so fun and bright so when I'm wearing these when it's miserable out, I can still have a little pop of color!

Haymarket Designs always has some of the cutest personalized things for the holidays, and right now they have lots of cute Halloween items for entertaining or decoration. Since they are personalized (you can get most of their things monogrammed!) they take a couple weeks so the sooner you order the better!

Unlike most girls, I'm not a huge fan of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes but I DO like some pumpkin coffee every now and then so it's nice to have some convenient for those cooler fall mornings!

Charleston Eats: Minero

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am so excited today share our experience at one of Charleston's newest hot spots: Minero, Sean Brock's new "casual Mexican eatery" on East Bay.

I read up a little about the restaurant earlier this week and was amazed by all that Sean Brock went through to find just the right corn to use for the tortillas and how they use a traditional nixtamalization process to make fresh mesa twice a day. Talk about dedication to the true art of cooking!

Yesterday Robbie and I went for a late afternoon bike ride around the Battery and were quickly ready for some food so I was so ready to try this place out, after hearing the hype about it for the last few months! We went fairly early (around 5:30) and were able to grab a table right away.

We ordered drinks (sangria for me, margarita for Robbie) and chips with a salsa sampler.  The tiny bowls of salsa were each so delicious in their own ways.

For our dinners, Robbie ordered the Queso Fundido with a side of the Grilled Corn and I had the Minero Burrito and also had the Grilled Corn. It was all SO delicious, and the burrito was huge, so I got to take some home to save for later! We both loved our grilled corn, which was topped with cotijo, spices, mayo and country ham.

A few cool things to note: the chips and tortillas were served in those cool Mexican printed pockets to keep them hot (or so I'm assuming), the tall boy can of Tacate was served with a "Mexican koozie" which of course I thought was the neatest thing ever, and the napkins and silverware were tucked away in drawers built into the tables so it all was right there.

Overall, we were so pleased with our trip to Minero and left very full and satisfied. I loved all of the little details that made this place so unique, I would definitely recommend it to any Mexican food lovers!

Read more about Minero herehere, and here.
